ETERNAL LIFE
Romans
6:22-23*
"But now that you have been set
free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap
leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of
sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our
Lord. "
John 6:35,49-51 . Jesus the Bread of Life
"35Then
Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never
go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. 49Your
forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died. 50But here is
the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not
die. 51I am the
living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread,
he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for
the life of the world. 53Jesus
said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the
Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54Whoever
eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise
him up at the last day. 55For my flesh is real food
and my blood is real drink. 56Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood
remains in me, and I in him. 57Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of
the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.
58This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died,
but he who feeds on this bread will live forever... 63The spirit gives life; the
flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit
and they are life. "
John 4:10,13-14
"
10Jesus
answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you
for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you
living water." 13Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks
this water will be thirsty again, 14but whoever drinks the water I
give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become
in him a spring of water welling up to eternal
life. "
Romans
6:17-23
"17But thanks be to God that,
though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the
form of teaching to which you were entrusted. 18You have been set free
from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. 19I put this in
human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you
used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to
ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to
righteousness leading to holiness. 20When you were slaves to sin, you
were free from the control of righteousness. 21What benefit did you
reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things
result in death! 22But now that you have been set free from sin and
have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and
the result is eternal life. 23For the wages of sin is death, but the
gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
"
1 John 5:1-15
1Everyone who believes that
Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father
loves his child as well. 2This is how we know that we love the
children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3This is
love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not
burdensome, 4for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the
victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5Who is it that
overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of
God. 6This is the one who came by water and blood--Jesus Christ. He
did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the
Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7For there are
three that testify: 8the[1] Spirit, the water and the blood; and the
three are in agreement. 9We accept man's testimony, but God's
testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has
given about his Son. 10Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this
testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him
out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has
given about his Son. 11And this is the testimony: God has given us
eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He who has the Son has
life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
Concluding Remarks 13 I write
these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that
you may know that you have eternal life. 14This is the confidence we
have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his
will, he hears us. 15And if we know that he hears us--whatever we
ask--we know that we have what we asked of him.
"
Matthew
19:16-17
"Now a man came up to Jesus and asked,
"Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?" 17"Why do
you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who
is good. If you want to enter life, obey the
commandments. "
John 3:3, 5-8,
14-21
"3In
reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the
kingdom of God unless he is born again." 5Jesus
answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God
unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6Flesh gives
birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7You
should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.'
8The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound,
but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is
with everyone born of the Spirit." 14Just as Moses lifted
up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,
15that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and
only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have
eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world
to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever
does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed
in the name of God's one and only Son. 19This is the
verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead
of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does
evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that
his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth
comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has
done has been done through
God. "
Galatians 6:8
"The
one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap
destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit
will reap eternal
life.

Eternal Life*
We believe that everybody wants to live a
life here and after death that is filled with joy, peace
and righteousness and nobody wants to go to eternal punishment
in hell. The goal of everyone's faith is ETERNAL LIFE . The Bible says
that ETERNAL LIFE is a free gift of God (
Romans 6:15-23) and you can have it through spiritual
rebirth (
John 3:1-21). It means ETERNAL LIFE begins after our decision to believe in
the ONLY ONE TRUE
GOD , who is the creator of everything including
us, and to accept JESUS CHRIST as our
Lord and Savior as God has
commanded us. He is the WAY, the TRUTH and
the LIFE (
John 14:5-14 and
Hebrews 10:19-23). No one comes to the Father
except through his son, Jesus Christ . If we hold to His
teachings, we will know the TRUTH and the TRUTH will set us
free from the bondage of sin (
John 8:31-36
and
Romans 8:1-17). He is the only one that can
give us the true spiritual bread (
John 6:27-70)
and the living water that that we need for
ETERNAL LIFE
(
John 4:10-14).
The expression "Eternal Life" occurs
in the Old Testament only in Daniel 12:2
(NIV, "everlasting life").
It occurs frequently in the New Testament (
Matthew 7:14
; 18:8,9; Luke 10:28
; comp 18:18). It comprises the whole future
of the redeemed (
Luke 16:9
), and is opposed to "eternal punishment" ( Matthew 19:29
; 25:46). It is the final reward and
glory into which the children of God enter (
1 Timothy 6:12,19
; Romans 6:22
; Galatians 6:8
; 1 Timothy 1:16
; Romans 5:21
); their Sabbath of rest (
Hebrews 4:9
; comp 12:22).
The newness of life which the believer
derives from Christ ( Romans 6:4
) is the very essence of salvation, and hence the life of
glory or the eternal life must also be theirs (
Romans 6:8
; 2Tim 2:11,12; Romans 5:17,21
; 8:30; Ephesians 2:5,6
). It is the "gift of God in Jesus Christ our Lord" (
Romans 6:23
). The life the faithful have here on earth (
John 3:36 ;
5:24; 6:47,53-58) is inseparably connected
with the eternal life beyond, the endless life of the future, the
happy future of the saints in heaven (
Matthew 19:16,29
; 25:46). |
