Christian Conduct
Colossians
3:12-25
"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly
loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness
and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you
may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over
all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect
unity.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members
of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of
Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with
all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with
gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or
deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the
Father through him.
Rules for Christian Households
Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the
Lord.
Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become
discouraged.
Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything;
and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but
with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. Whatever you do,
work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,
since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a
reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Anyone who does wrong
will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism."
Psalm
119:9-12
" How can a
young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I
seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your
commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin
against you. Praise be to you, O LORD ; teach me your
decrees."
Psalm 15:1-5
"LORD , who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy
hill? He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous,
who speaks the truth from his heart and has no slander on his
tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his
fellowman, who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the
LORD , who keeps his oath even when it hurts, who lends his money
without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who
does these things will never be shaken."
Ephesians 6:10-18
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on
the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the
devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,
but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of
this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly
realms."
Ephesians 4:29-32
"Do not let any unwholesome
talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building
others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who
listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom
you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all
bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form
of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another,
forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave
you."
Colossians
3:12-13
"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe
yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and
patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you
may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. "
Proverbs 3: 12
". . .because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father
the son he delights in. "
Job 5: 17-18
"Blessed is the man whom God
corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty. For
he wounds, but he also binds up; he injures, but his hands also heal. "
Psalm 94 :12-13
"Blessed is the man you discipline, O LORD , the man you
teach from your law; you grant him relief from days of trouble, till
a pit is dug for the wicked. "
1 Corinthians 11: 32
"When we are judged by
the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with
the world. "
2 Corinthians 4 :16-17
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though
outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by
day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an
eternal glory that far outweighs them all. "
Hebrews 12: 6
"because the Lord
disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a
son."
Hebrews 12: 10-11
"Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as
they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may
share in his holiness. 11No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but
painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and
peace for those who have been trained by it. "
Galatians 5:22-25
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against
such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have
crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live
by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. "
